A British actor, born in Wandsworth, London, England, UK, on September 26, 1877. He attended St Olave's Grammar School and then continued at King's College London. He served in the British Army when WWI broke out, after which he continued his work in the British theater. In 1921, he traveled to America to work in theater and silent cinema. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in Miracle on 34th Street (1947). He is known for The Trouble with Harry (1955), Pride and Prejudice (1940), and Them! (1954). He married Minnie Terry (1901–1916). Gwenn died on September 6, 1959, in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA, from pneumonia and complications of a stroke.
