German actor, born in Munich, Bavaria, Germany on December 13, 1915. He received the Volpi Cap Award in 1955, the Honorary Award in 1981, and the Golden Camera Award in 1982. He got married five times including Lulu Basler (1937-1947) and Margie Schmitz (1978-1982) and she remained with him until his death. He participated in many German films before he was arrested in Germany for his opposition to Nazism, and after the war, he acquired Austrian citizenship, continued his journey as a theater and film actor, and also wrote several plays. Because of his talent, good looks, and fluency in many languages, he became a prominent star in Europe and America. He usually played the roles of officers in the German army in war films. He is known for The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and The Longest Day (1962). In 1933, Curd was injured in a car accident, and paramedics cut his spermatic cord, which left him sterile for life, and his only daughter Deana, as her mother Eva Bartok later stated, was not his child. He died on June 18, 1982, in Vienna, Austria, of a heart attack.
