An American actress, born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. She received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. She married actor Glenn Langan (1951-1991), with whom she had her only son, Tracy, and remained with him until his death. She is known for Ladies of the Chorus (1948), Armored Car Robbery (1950), and Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951). She was born to working-class parents of Norwegian origins and worked as a dancer in her teens in nightclubs. After studying for several years in a Manhattan dance studio and after graduating from Grover Cleveland High School, she worked in the chorus of the Broadway Moss Hart/Cole Porter musical Jubilee!. She signed a contract with Twentieth Century Fox to present musical films, and she moved to Columbia Pictures with a 7-year contract, appearing in drama and crime films. She worked on television until she gave birth to her child Tracy, so she stopped working for some time to take care of her son. She retired in 1956 and devoted herself to her home and her husband. She died a year after the death of her son, Tracy, on November 22, 2002, in California, USA, of pneumonia.
