An American actor who was born in Toledo, Ohio, USA. He received two stars on the Walk of Fame for his work in film and television in 1960. He married Susan MacManamy (1919-1974), had a daughter with her, and remained with her until his death. He is known for Dracula's Daughter...Read more (1936), Saboteur (1942), Murder, My, Sweet (1944), and High Noon (1952). He studied music at a young age to become a musician. He joined Columbia University, then started acting on Broadway in 1915. His film debut was in the silent film The Runaway Wife (1915), and he always played the roles of a morally corrupt villains and corrupt businessmen. His only daughter, Ottilie Kruger, was a theater actress who died in 2005. He died on September 6, 1974 of a stroke and cerebral vascular complications in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California.
