A Lithuanian actor, born in Lithuania, and his family moved to Klaipeda, Lithuania. After serving in the army, he joined the Faculty of Law at Vilnius University. During his studies, he got a leading role in the film Nobody Wants to Die in 1966. He graduated from the university in 1968, then began working in Lithuanian film studios. He received many awards, including the Russian Order of Friendship, the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts, and the Order of Honor.
