American director and choreographer, born in Pasadena, California, United States. He studied at Anaheim Union High School. In 1931, he became a member of the Fanchon and Marco theater productions shortly after graduating from high school. He also studied at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He appeared in the 1937 theatrical production "The Show is On" and received an Academy Award nomination for the film Lili (1953).
