A British writer and novelist, born in Auchterless, United Kingdom.In 1917, he started his career as a writer with the Aberdeen Journal. Later, he worked for Farmers Weekly. He studied the arts after relocating to Glasgow, Scotland, and was involved in the British Socialist Party at the time. He enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps in 1920, having previously served in Iran, India, and Egypt as a member of the Royal Armed Forces in 1919, when he started writing.
