A British screenwriter and director, he was born in London, England, into a theatrical family.He was the son of British actress Dorothy Ward and actor Shaun Glenville, who both worked in pantomimes. He was the president of the Oxford University Dramatic Society while studying law at Christ Church, Oxford, after attending Stonyhurst College. He was also the director of the Old Vic Theatre. He is known for Term of Trial (1962) and Summer and Smoke (1961).
