A Canadian actress, born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on August 10, 1902. Norma received an Academy Award in 1930, a Volpi Cup in 1938, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Norma Shearer won a beauty contest at the age of 14 and moved with her sister and mother to New York in 1920 to participate in films. She is best known for her roles in The Divorcee (1930), Romeo and Juliet (1936), Marie Antoinette (1938), and The Women (1939). She retired in 1942. Norma Shearer died on June 12, 1983, in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, in the United States of America, of pneumonia.
