An American jazz and blues singer of African origin, born in the South of France. Her star began to shine in the late 1950s, after the release of the song "I Love You Porgy", then her recordings and concerts continued. Afterward, she appeared on stage intermittently, and she visited Lebanon as part of the Baalbeck International Festival. She also played the piano, and had experience in composing, and among her works is the song "Images". Her song "Why?" is dedicated to the activist and human rights activist Martin Luther King, Mississippi Goddam, I Put a Spell on You, and the song Ne me quitte pas, which was sung by the singer Jacques Brel and she sang it in her original language but with an English accent.
