An American actress and singer, born in Beaufort, South Carolina, in the United States. She is a singer who mixes rap music and religious songs. She came from the countryside of South Carolina to participate in the American Idol competition, becoming the first singer to win the award for this television singing competition in 2007, since she outperformed singer Kree Harrison. The jury members included Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, and Keith Urban.
