In 1957, he met songwriter Hal David, and their songwriting partnership began. A year later, they met and achieved fame when their song The Story of My Life, performed by Marty Robbins, reached number one on the Billboard charts. Perry Como then recorded "Magic Moments," with Hal's lyrics and Bacharach's music. In the early 1960s, he wrote nearly 100 songs with Hal David, and later composed the soundtrack for the 1967 film Casino Royale. He died on February 8, 2023.
