An American novelist, born in Monroeville, Alabama, USA. While she was studying at Monroe County High School, she developed a passion for English literature, and after graduating from high school in 1944, she joined Huntingdon College for one year, after which she transferred to the University of Alabama. She's known for her novel "To Kill a Mockingbird", which was published in 1960 and achieved smashing success worldwide when it was adapted into the 1962 film of the same name. She passed away on February 19, 2016, at age 89.
