An American producer, screenwriter, and director, born in Logan, Utah, United States. He studied in a high school in Utah, then graduated from Cornell University in 1924. He worked for the New York World newspaper and then began working as a director, but after several films, he left this field to focus on writing. His works include Dark Victory (1939) and The Corn Is Green (1945).
