A British actor, born in London, England, to a father who worked as an officer in the British Army. He attended the Berkshire-based Royal Military College. In 1928, he moved to the United States after starting his acting career in both Britain and Germany. He obtained American citizenship in 1947. He cooperated with Tempelhof Film Studios. He is known for Sabotage (1936) and Now, Voyager (1942).
