An Indian actress who began her artistic career in the sixties after winning the United Film Producers Talent Hunt sponsored by Filmfare. Her first appearance was in Taqdeer (1967). She received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress, among other awards and nominations. She is known for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and Mammon (1994).
