He began writing for several magazines, and in 1941 he wrote...Read more his first autobiography and joined the US Marine Corps. He served for three years there, wrote several articles in the Marine Corps Gazette, and also published on the history of World War II. After the war, he used his military experience to become a source of inspiration for his first novel, then became a screenwriter in Hollywood, and his artistic performances continued after that.
