A French cartoonist and comic writer, born in Tunis during the French protectorate. His parents were Jewish; his father, Siegfried Wolinski, was from Poland and was assassinated when his son, George, was two years old, and his mother, Lola, was from Tunisia. He moved to Paris in 1945, shortly after World War II. He began studying architecture in Paris, but left to pursue cartooning. He contributed to several works, such as Le Cowboy (1985), Pizzaiolo et Mozzarel (1985), and Aldo et Junior (1984). He was killed in the attack on Charlie Hebdo on January 7, 2015, along with other employees of the magazine.
