An American actress, born in San Francisco, California, USA, on July 26, 1918. She received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. She married actor John Archer (1941-1953), Randolph Hale (1958-1974), and Harry J Volk (1976-2000). She is known for The Danny Thomas Show (1957-1964), Chain Gang (1950), and Sherlock Holmes in Washington (1943). She was born to parents of Czech-German descent in San Francisco and moved with her family to New York City at the age of 15. She received acting lessons at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and ballet lessons at Chaliff School of Dance. She debuted on Broadway theater in 1936, then signed with RKO Pictures and Universal Studios. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, she moved between theater, cinema, and television until the end of the eighties. She passed away on November 28, 2015, in Beverly Hills, California, USA.
