A Bulgarian director and writer, who obtained a medical degree in 1952 and graduated from the Faculty of Acting and Directing at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1959. He worked as a set designer and director at the Plovdiv Theatre between 1958 and 1966, and studied under many prominent directors. He served as a professor of film and television directing at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia. He also worked in television. He served as President of the Bulgarian Union of Film Workers between 1974 and 1982. He was a member of the European Film Academy. His works include Cyclops (1976), The Barrier (1979), and The Reference (1985).
