Lebanese director, born in Beirut in 1945. She studied sociology at the American University of Beirut and worked during her studies in journalism and teaching. She also studied social anthropology at the French Sorbonne University and joined Maxime Rodinson. She soon became interested in cinema after attending several courses organized by director Jane Roach. She moved to London in 1985, where she taught at the MA Filmmaking | Goldsmiths, University of London. She is known for "It's Time for Freedom."
