He attended Oneonta Military Academy and spent four years in the Navy, during which time he...Read more wrote prolifically, publishing his first story, "Hell's Scoop," in Sure-Fire Detective magazine. He moved to Paris, France, in 1939 to work and live there, and just six months later, his agent, Harold Norling Swanson, sold the story for If You Break My Heart and the story for Shore. His other works include No Reckoning, Lady in the Lake, and the novel I Wake Up Screaming, which was adapted into a film of the same name starring Victor Mature in 1941.
