Japanese-American actor, born on December 10, 1933, in Kobe, Japan. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving in Korea and Japan with the Special Services division. His works include Conan the Barbarian (1982), Pearl Harbor (2001), and The Sand Pebbles (1966) for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He passed away on July 21, 2006, in California, United States.
