A Japanese singer, actor, and director, born in Fukuoka to a father who worked as a pilot for the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service. Shin'ichi was raised in Kimitsu, Japan, where he attended middle school. He practiced gymnastics after his teacher advised him to do so during middle school. He won the National Sports Festival in Japan before joining Nippon Sport Science University in 1957, and then entered the world of cinema in 1961, thanks to his prowess in martial arts. He is known for Yagyu Clan Conspiracy (1978) and Legend of Seven Monks (2006).
