An American writer, born in 1972 in Tehran, Iran. She studied French Literature at New York University with a minor in Creative Writing. She holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. Her first novel, The Septembers of Shiraz, was published in 2007. Sofer received the 2008 PEN/Robert W. Bingham Award for Members of the Septembers of Shiraz. She also won the 2007 Whiting Prize for Literature. Her works include The Septembers of Shiraz (2007) and Man of My Time (2020).
