A Japanese actor, director, and martial arts expert, born in Tokyo, Japan, to a father who worked as a fisherman. He grew up as an only child. He began his martial arts training at the age of five, and by his eighteenth birthday, he was a Japanese karate champion before moving at the age of nineteen to the United States, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics, yet he also remained focused on constantly improving his martial arts skills. Kosugi made his way to the silver screen in 1974 through the movie The Godfather Part II. He also participated in various works, such as The Scorpion King (2002) and Ninja Assassin (2009).
