An American director and writer, born in 1945 in DeLand, Florida, USA. He went to Antioch College and the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied film production. He directed Ulee's Gold (1997), which was nominated for an Oscar. He has taught at Florida State University College of Motion Picture Arts. His works include Gal Young Un (1979) and Ruby in Paradise (1993).
