An American screenwriter, born in the United States, joined the US Navy from 1942 to 1945, during World War II, and began his career in radio and television. He began writing for the radio series Martin Kane, Private Eye, and in the early 1950s he turned to television. During the 1960s, he wrote three films about World War II: Submarine X-1, The Thousand Plane Raid, and Mosquito Squadron. In 1976, he wrote the film Midway, also about World War II, directed by Jack Smight and starring Charlton Heston. He died on February 8, 2011.
