An American actor and director, born in San Francisco, California, on July 25, 1925. After the end of his service in the US Navy during WWII, he joined New York University and the Actors Studio in New York, and after his family moved to Los Angeles, he joined the University of California and studied acting In the Actors' Lab in Hollywood. He presented the play The Front Page for the first time on stage, and performed two plays on Broadway; Medea in 1947, and Anna Christie in 1952. Jerry Paris started his cinematic career in the movie The Lady Gambles (1949) in a small role and gradually landed bigger roles, such as in Outrage (1950), The Wild One (1953), and The Caine Mutiny (1954). However, he was limited to playing supporting roles, but he found bigger opportunities on television as an actor, and later as a director. Jerry's most notable work includes Marty (19505), The Great Impostor (1960), The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966), Happy Days (1974), and Police Academy 2, (1985). He won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1964 as a director. He died in Los Angeles, California, on March 31, 1986, of a brain tumor.
