An American writer, born in Los Angeles, the United States. His father was a former history teacher, who moved his family to Los Angeles in the 1920s to work as a producer and screenwriter at Fox Studios. He studied in Los Angeles, graduated from Bard College and later obtained a master’s degree from Yale University. Among his works are Charade (1963), Father Goose (1964), and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974). He died on April 26, 2003.
