An American writer, who grew up in Kansas, the United States. His father was editor-in-chief of his own newspaper in his hometown. In 1882, Runyon's father was forced to sell his newspaper, and the family moved west, where they eventually settled in the city of Pueblo, Colorado. After his military service, he worked in Colorado newspapers, and was known for his sports writings. Among his credits are Guys and Dolls, Little Miss Marker, and A Very Honorable Guy. He died on December 10, 1946.
