An Egyptian novelist, translator, and academic, born in Cairo in 1965. she obtained a BA in French literature from Ain Shams University in 1987, and a master’s degree in 1995 on the literature of the French writer Marcel Proust, and a doctorate in comparative literature from the University of Montreal, Canada, about the neighborhood in Egyptian cinema. The letter was later published in a book issued by the National Center for Translation, and worked as a university professor and lecturer in a number of Canadian universities. Her novel Acapella was adapted into a movie called Eve's Apple in 2016.
