American actor Sterling K. Brown was on born April 5, 1976, in St. Louis, Missouri. He has two sisters and two brothers and his father died when Brown was 10 years old. As a child, he was known by his middle name Kelby, until he reached the age of 16 and began using his first name Sterling in honor of his late father. He grew up in Olivette, Missouri, and attended Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School. Sterling graduated from Stanford University in 1998 with a degree in acting. He initially wanted to work in business but fell in love with acting while he was a college student. Brown then attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where he earned an MFA. He's known for playing Christopher Darden in American Crime Story, for which he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie. His notable works include Black Panther (2018) and This Is Us (2016-2022).
