A French playwright and novelist, born in Paris. He has been passionate about theater since childhood. He studied law and performed his military service in Germany. In 1945, he made his first play, Les Héritiers. Among his most important works are Quarante carats, Potiche, and Fleur de cactus, all of which were later turned into films. He was awarded the Legion of Honour and died on January 8, 2019, in Paris.
