A German director, illustrator, and character designer.  She was born in Berlin, Germany. As a child, she was passionate about the art of puppetry to the point that she built her own puppet theater. She is considered one of the pioneers in the animation film industry in Germany. During her teenage years, she became interested in cinema by watching the films of actor and optical illusionist Georges Méliès. In 1915, Lotta attended a lecture by Wanger on the amazing possibilities of animation. The silhouette technique was among the techniques that she developed in subsequent cinematic works.  Her works also included music clips by composer Mozart.
