An American writer, born in Tucson, Arizona, United States, and grew up in Port Neches. He studied psychology and philosophy at Rice University in Houston, Texas, and Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He obtained his bachelor's degree in 1976. Later, he began working for the Minneapolis Star newspaper and decided to continue his career in journalism in 1979. The Texas Press Association also recognized him with awards for his outstanding reporting and column writing.
