A Chinese actor, born in the Dutch East Indies to Cantonese parents. He immigrated to Hong Kong as a teenager, where he attended acting school. In 1962, he began training in martial arts and worked in more than a hundred films, including Five Fingers of Death (1972), Executioners from Shaolin (1977), Fist of Fury II (1977), and Clan of the White Lotus (1980).
