An Egyptian poet, born in Cairo. She studied Arabic literature at Cairo University, then worked in journalism and translation. She is the author of several poetry collections, including "The Pyramid City" (1997), "Writing on Water" (2002), "The Alternative Homeland" (2007), and "The Open House" (2012). She also translated many literary works from French to Arabic. She's known for A Footnote in Ballet History (2016).
