A Filipino actor and director, who spent his childhood in Sorsogon and Manila in the Philippines. After World War II, he joined the Philippine Scouts and served in the military police in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his return, he began his career with the support of director Manuel Conde. He made his film debut in Siete Infantes de Lara (1949). He was known for playing villain roles. He won the FAMAS award for Best Supporting Actor for three consecutive years for the movies Taga sa Bato (1957), Condenado (1958), and Tanikalang Apoy (1959). In 1961, he directed his first film Karugtong ng Kahapon. He died on June 20, 2019.
