An Italian actress, she was born in Santa Fiora, Tuscany, Italy. She is the daughter of Marcello Morante, a lawyer and playwright and Elsa Morante, the novelist, is her aunt. Laura started her career by dancing. At the age of eighteen, she joined the Carmelo Benny dance group. She then moved to Paris, France, where she gained great fame in European cinema, before returning to Italy in 2001. She is known for her roles in Tragedy of a Ridiculous Man (1981) and Sweet Body of Bianca (1984). Among her several awards and nominations, she received a David di Donatello Award and a Special Silver Ribbon at the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists.
