He began his cinema...Read more career as the assistant of famous Turkish director Atıf Yılmaz and later worked as an AD on the movie Bir gecelik gelin (1962). He left law school to start filmmaking and enlisted in the military in 1963. He shot films that were influenced by American and Western cinemas, such as Red Mask, Demir Claw, and Çeko. His first movie was Çelik bilek (1967).
