An American writer, born in New York, United States. He lived in New York City most of his life and worked in his family's tailoring business as a young man. He graduated from Swarthmore College in 1940. During World War II, he served in the United States Army, and he published his first novel "Man on Spikes" in 1955. He's known for Eight Men Out (1988) and Sunshine State (2002).
