He was born and died in Cairo. He lived in Egypt and Britain and made business trips to many countries, including France, Germany, Morocco, and Lebanon. He also worked for a while in the Republic of Sudan in the Supreme Council for Integration between Egypt and Sudan. He enrolled at Cairo University, and obtained a BA in English in 1949, then obtained a diploma in basic education in 1954. He traveled to the University of Edinburgh in Britain, where he received a Master's degree in education in 1976. He worked as a teacher and inspector of education in Egypt until 1959, then held many positions, including director of special education and adult education until 1969, and an expert in the Specialized National Councils until 1988. He was a member of the Modern Literature Association, a member of the Egyptian Writers Union, and a member of the Union of Dramatic Writers.
