In 1927, Horace Liveright appointed him to review the theatrical text of the play Dracula for production in America. He wrote his first play Berkeley Square in 1929, in collaboration with John Collings Squire, and then his work on the play Dracula was the basis for the film that was produced in 1931. His credits include Frankenstein (1931) and The Mummy (1932). He died on March 8, 1954.
