An American writer, producer, and director, born in San Francisco. He is best known for his collaborations with producers Al Christie and Mack Sennett, actors Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, pairing them in Hit the Ice (1943) and Yvonne DeCarlo in Monster, Go Home (1966). Lamont also handled several fantastic adventures in Universal Pictures and led several entries in the studio's successful Ma and Pa Kettle series. He died on September 12, 1993, in Woodland Hills, California, of pneumonia.
