An American actor, born in Illinois, USA. He was a popular vaudeville performer who first made his name on stage as a jazz dancer in the mid-to-late 1920s. He performed with some jazz bands in Chicago and New York City, including Tom Brown's Band from Dixieland, the Original Dixieland Jass Band, and the Louisiana Five. In 1918, he made his first appearance on Broadway in the Ziegfeld Follies. Among his credits are The Gorilla, Sweet Smell of Success, and Atlantic City. He died on February 12, 1958.
