An English actor and producer, born in Dorset, England. He began his career in the 1920s, and his career spanned more than fifty years. He moved to the United States as an American citizen in 1941, and was in charge of the Army Entertainment Section, Central Pacific Theater during World War II, leaving the military service with the rank of major. Among his credits are Planet of the Apes (1968), Gilbert and Sullivan (1953) and The War Lord (1965). He died on March 12, 1989 in East Sussex, England.
