An American actor, born on January 23, 1907, in White Plains, New York. He studied at Cornell University. In 1933, he began his artistic career, which spanned more than 35 years. His most notable work includes Scarlet Street (1945), Winchester '73 (1950), Night Passage (1957), and The Flight of the Phoenix (1965). He died on June 7, 1968 in Los Angeles, California.
