A Mexican writer, who chose the Indians of Mexico as a primary subject for his literary works. His life was shrouded in secrets, especially the first period between 1913 and 1925. He began his career in 1925 when he published some of his stories in German, and he became one of the most famous storytellers in Mexico. His novels include The Death Ship (1926), The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1927), and The Rebellion of the Hanged (1936). He died on March 26, 1969, in Mexico City.
