A German writer, born in the city of Osnabrück, Germany. He became famous for his novel All Quiet on the Western Front published in 1928, which was later turned into a cinematic work. He immigrated to America and acquired American citizenship, and among his other literary works are Three Comrades and A Time to Love and a Time to Die.
